Other Postsecondary Options

Military Service

Students can get a better understanding of the training options available to them from the US Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines.

  • ROTC (Reserved Officers Training Corps) or other officer-training programs: students receive financial assistance to attend college in exchange for a commitment to serve in a branch of the armed forces of active duty that is usually four years, and four years of reserved duty.  For more information, click on the link below.

  • United States Military Academy: Students with strong academic backgrounds and good physical abilities can apply to earn a 4-year degree with all expenses paid. Successful applicants must receive an appointment to an academy (link for more information on the Military Academy below) 

Apprenticeship

Paid on-the-job training with class instruction in a trade or profession to obtain credentials

  • Earn a competitive wage while you learn!
  • Gaining work experience
  • Hands-on training and applying it to real-world situations

Employment

Going straight into the workforce may be the best fit for some students. Benefits include:

  • Making income right away to support yourself or your family
  • Gaining real-world experience
  • Flexibility in schedule
  • Note: there may be limited earning potential, and limited job opportunities.
